An honest face

That’s me folks.  An honest face.

In fact it’s more like my feedback on TradeMe has assured many a seller that I’m good for it, that I’ll pay up, and that they’re safe to send on the goods before I’ve even transferred the money.

That’s what happened today.

I bought a saddle for the bike.  It was a bargain.  It’s the same as Nadine has and she almost pipped me to the post and bought it when I asked her to confirm it was the same one that she’s been happily sat on for hours and hours on end.

Postage hadn’t been mentioned and bank details not sent upon my successful buy-now.  I sent an email this morning offering to pay $10 for courier – believing it would cover the costs and asked if I could deposit the money today so they could courier the saddle tomorrow as I would like it for Wednesday.  The next time I’m back on my bike.

What a lovely seller.  She said based on my feedback she’d just sent it off by courier and trusted I would send through the money.  In fact I already had as soon as she’d agreed to send it tomorrow by “whatever is the fastest method”.

I’d emailed her a screen shot of the completed bank transfer.  And moments later an email arrived saying it only cost $5 for courier and if I’d not yet put the money through, to just send $5 for the courier.  I’ve said to keep the extra as a way of thanks for obliging and being such a good sport.

So hopefully, tomorrow or Wednesday the saddle will arrive and I’ll be on my way to falling in love with the saddle.  And if not, Nadine will be waiting in the wings to take the saddle off my hands.

A total rest day

Monday’s programme had a 45min swim.  I’ll do it tomorrow.

I had an awful nights sleep.  Mostly due to my shoulder giving me grief.  I hadn’t sleep well the early hours of the morning and had a very nasty headache when the alarm went off.

I also couldn’t stop thinking about work.  I’ve got some major learning to do at the end of the month and it’s both exciting and daunting.  It’s a big project that we’re embarking on.  A completely different style of learning that we’ll be offering our clients.  I think it’s fantastic, and certainly the most exciting thing that’s happened for me at work in a very long time.

Anyway, thoughts of work and how we’ll be changing so much, and wanting to make sure it’s perfect (well you know me, I strive for perfection on the very first attempt) along with my aching shoulder, kept me from sleep.

I did dabble in the idea of getting up to see Cameron cross the finish line in Germany but the hope that I’d fall asleep real soon won me over.  Didn’t happen though.

Today I didn’t go to work.  The idea was that I’d take Panadol and get back to sleep quickly.  Except it’s really hard to get back to sleep when someone else is moving about the house.  Now I appreciate how difficult it must be for Mark when I’m up early in the weekends getting ready for training.  Poor guy.

So I gave up and got up and had breakfast with Mark and went back to bed as he left for work.

Silly to do that.  Eating and then trying to lay down and get sleep.  Didn’t happen.  Not for want of trying.  Between my tummy digesting (and I was really hungry – ignoring the pain in my stomach from not eating might have been just as distracting) and the dog up the road who decided today would be perfect to try a marathon barking session, I didn’t get back to sleep :(

This afternoon I spent researching some of the new cool things we’ll be able to do with our new learning tool.  I had good intentions of writing my EOM report, but alas I couldn’t open the document to edit.  I could view it only.  That was frustrating!

There we have it.  That’s how the week has begun for me.

I only wish my shoulder would stop aching.  I’ve got physio after 5pm tonight.  I think that’s more checking my technique with the new exercises than it is to give me any relief.  Maybe if I give the puppy dog eyes I’ll get a bit of physio too.
