No sleep-in for me
Maranello decided to wipe his whiskers around my face to show his love this morning. Those boys have such long whiskers.
Once I was awake I realised it was a little chilly at the end of the bed, which Murcielago had only just vacated – ok, there was a little warm patch where his furry little (hah!) body was resting.
I leaned across Mark to check out the time and it was 6:03am. On Sunday morning. The last day of the weekend. I didn’t have any training.
Groan
It didn’t matter (always look on the bright side of life – humms to self) I got up and put a loaf of bread on.
We ended up going to 3 supermarkets yesterday looking for “Bread Flour”. I was beginning to get a tad frustrated. In the end I came home with Bread Mix and sent my next door neighbour a text asking if it was the same as Bread Flour – crossing my fingers and praying. So much for that!
Bread Flour is not Bread Mix.
Never mind, the mix wasn’t wasted, I used it to make Fruit Bread which we devoured as if we’d not been out for a large dinner the night before.
I toddled off next door to eye ball their “Bread Flour”, only to find out it’s nothing more than High Grade Flour.
For goodness sake. Why don’t they just call it what it is! That was easy to find at all 3 supermarkets.
I wanted to go and look at some Trail shoes and get the tap for the irrigation, so going back out to the supermarket for the High Grade Flour wasn’t going to put me out, but I get so annoyed when the problem is something so silly, I mean why couldn’t the recipe have called it what it is – High Grade Flour! It was a NZ version of the recipe book.
First stop was the The Frontrunner. Now I had no intention of buying shoes today. I’d already been searching Sierratradingpost and RunningWarehouse determined that I’d be able to get the same shoes for a bargain by shopping online.
Naturally I felt a bit guilty with the nice young boy explaining the differences with the soles to normal running shoes, and the water proofing that some of the shoes had.
I then tried on two different Asics ones . I was video taped running on the treadmill and both felt good. Though I really looked the groovy red colour throughout the water proof pair. I ran the same in both of them, and slightly pronated – which is to be expected. But I was assured that by the time I got my orthotics in, it would be perfect.
Then I had tried on a pair of Salomon’s. I liked them (on the shelf) because they had the elasticised draw string. The toe is a bit boxy. I asked about it and felt a bit foolish. I did say I’d never done a trail run before. He explained that’s the guard against rocks. Hey, he also said “trail running is much more interesting than running, isn’t it” …. again, I had mentioned I’ve not done a trail run before.
I made some lame excuse for not buying a pair then and there. Secretly knowing I was coming home to do more internet browsing.
Right, off to Mitre10 where Mark was fumbling about unable to see the parts we needed for the irrigation, but I found it in no time at all. Maybe because they were on a much lower shelf and since I’m closer to the ground and more flexible, I could bend easily and spot them
Next stop the supermarket. Knew exactly what to get and were in and out of the shop as quick as lightening.
Mark’s fixed up the irrigation, I’ve put a loaf of 50/50 Wholemeal flour (with pumpkin and sunflower seeds) loaf in. Mark helped me with my “homework”. I had to come up with 10 questions for our Music Trivia Quiz.
Mark’s just come in to ask if I want to iron anything. Hilarious! You don’t ask that question. You ask if you should leave the ironing board and iron out for me. I NEVER want to iron anything. But I might have something that needs ironing.
All chores are done. It’s 5:20pm and that just leaves getting dinner organised and sitting down to watch a little telly. Top Gear for Mark and Grey’s Anatomy for me.
Oh, and another beautiful day in Christchurch. Who would know it’s winter with the brilliant weekend we’ve just had.
